Neverworld

Neverworld is a concept universe I began exploring back in the early 00s. First came the voids, then the fairies, then the rest of it. Neverworld is a fantasy world, with fairies, elves, and other creatures, and replete with magic and an entirely new concept: voids.

Neverworld Projects

Every once in a while, I undertake a couple of projects using concepts from Neverworld. You can find them here.

  • "Kally and the Heavenly Mirror" — a fairy tale involving fairies, and a magical mirror that introduces objectivity to the Ael (world).
  • Aquadox — my weblog concerning various philosophical insights I have. Some posts relate to Neverworld.
    • "A Galaxy of Stars" — a conversation between a human named Jacob and his lover, an elf named Lilly.
  • Spyderbait — a weblog about the essence of media and materials. Lendria is a human, and Cognatio is an elf. Note: this is not a very well coded weblog — my fault. To see previous posts, check out my Artistserver weblog.

People of Neverworld

Elves

Elves are humanoids. They can naturally use magic to a certain extent, although not very much. Elves had experimented with society, creating some of the earliest and grandest social structures and civilizations, but have since seemed to give up the practice, living in what can be described as a taciturn semi-anarchy. Elves don't have very strict zones of comfort, therefore they don't mind living without the amenities of civilization.

Elves think in a way that is highly conceptual, as opposed to essential. Things just don't make sense to elves unless they can be defined as a concrete thing.

Humans

Humans are very civilization-oriented. They have a very strict zone of comfort, and do not like to live outside it. Thus, they build grand societies to cater to every human need. Humans took up the idea of civilization from the elves, and have made it their own, improving it technologically from the start.

Humans cannot naturally use magic. However, they are capable of using magic upon ingesting magical varieties of plant. Wizards are humans who have undertaken magic as a profession.

Humans like conceptual thought, but also can think in terms of essence to some degree.

Fairies

Fairies are winged humanoids. Their wings are shaped like bat wings, because they are mammals. Fairies are the most magical creatures of Neverworld. They use magic for everything, from food production to politics.

Fairies are about as essentialist as humans and elves can take. On the scale from conceptual to essentialist, they lie very far on the side of essentialist. Thus, their epistemology is almost incomprehensible to humans and especially elves. Still, fairies understand concrete concepts at least to the extent to allow meaningful communication between them and other humanoids.

Yinies

Yinies are fur-covered humanoids whose epistemology is many times more essentialist than fairies. Thus, yinies are quite incomprehensible to humans and elves — so much so that humans and some elves at one point in history decided that they were evil and needed to be eradicated! It is because of this decision that yinies are rare in Neverworld today.

Yinies have no society, do not build things, and have an almost incomprehensible language, because their language relates entirely to the essence of their surroundings, and not to any objective sense of reality. Yinies have a limited ability to use magic.

Dragons

Dragons were extremely magical creatures created by wizards. They no longer exist, because once these creatures discovered the voids in the Ael (world), they became crazy because they could not take it. Dragons were highly intelligent and highly submissive.

Ne-eils

Ne-eils are descended from dragons. However, they have lost the ability to use magic. Unlike dragons, they can speak. Ne-eils are not as intelligent as dragons, but they are very good composers of popular music.
